Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about data requests
How long will it take to process my request?
We aim to acknowledge all requests within 48 hours and provide a complete response within 30 days, as required by the Data Protection Act, 2019. Complex requests may take up to 60 days, but we'll notify you if this is the case.
Is there a fee for submitting a data request?
No, exercising your data protection rights is free of charge. However, if a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse to act on the request.
What information do I need to provide for verification?
We need enough information to verify your identity and locate your data. This typically includes your full name, email address, and possibly additional information like phone number or national ID. For sensitive requests, we may require additional verification.
Can someone else submit a request on my behalf?
Yes, but they must provide written authorization from you and their own contact information. We'll need to verify both their identity and your authorization before processing the request.
What if I'm not satisfied with the response?
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact our Data Protection Officer at dpo@keylite.com. If still unsatisfied, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya.
